LittleStead is a game that is also your daily journal, so it keeps what you write. This page says what it keeps, why, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted.
In short: we keep your sign-in details, your journal and your town so that you can come back to them. Your journal is read by Anthropic's Claude to build your town and to write reflections. We do not sell your data, show ads or use ad tracking.
When you sign in
You sign in with Google or Apple. LittleStead never sees your password. From the sign-in it keeps:
- your email address, and whether Google or Apple has confirmed it is yours. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", this is the private address Apple gives us;
- your first name, if Google or Apple shares it;
- the account id Google or Apple gives LittleStead for you, which is how we recognise you the next time you sign in.
We use your email only to write to you about your LittleStead account, such as a welcome email when you join. It is never used to sign you in, and it is not shared.
Signing in sets one cookie, littlestead_session, which keeps you signed in for up to 180 days or until you sign out. A second, short-lived cookie links a sign-in to the browser that started it. We keep only a scrambled form (a hash) of your session, never the session itself.
Your journal and your town
LittleStead keeps:
- your journal entries: the words you write, when you wrote them, and the day they belong to;
- what was made of each entry: which habit it counts towards, its mood, and the object it leaves in your town, including any you choose yourself;
- your habits, and any changes you make to entries. Your journal is kept as a history: when you change or remove an entry, the change is added and the earlier version is kept;
- the weekly and monthly reflections written about your journal;
- your town: its name, where things are placed, and your progress through the game.
A daily copy of each journal is kept as a backup. Words you have typed but not yet logged stay on your own device until you log them.
Anthropic's Claude
LittleStead uses Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, for three things:
- Reading each new entry. The entry's words and your list of habits are sent to Claude, which says which habit it counts towards, its mood and what it should leave in your town. Each entry is sent once.
- Answering a question you ask about your journal. Your question, your last few questions in the same conversation, and the entries that bear on it are sent to Claude.
- Writing a weekly or monthly reflection. The entries from that week or month are sent to Claude.
Nothing else about you, such as your email or name, is sent with them. Anthropic handles this data under its own privacy policy. The sample journal that comes with the game is never sent.
The launch list
If you asked on this site to hear when LittleStead is ready, we keep that email address in a private store. It is used only for launch updates, is never shared or sold, and the list is deleted once launch updates end. Every email will include a one-click unsubscribe.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data or share it for marketing.
- We do not show ads, and there is no ad tracking or analytics in LittleStead.
- This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites.
Deleting your data
To request deletion of your account and everything LittleStead keeps about you, or to ask what we hold, email privacy@littlestead.com from the address you sign in with. The owner handles deletion requests by hand and will delete your account, sign-in details, journal, reflections and town, usually within 30 days. The same address is the place for any other question about your privacy.
Changes
If what LittleStead keeps changes, this page will change first, and the date at the top will say when.
